Keeper of the Zoo
- With 3 comments

Keeper of the Zoo seems to be very well written with interesting stories concerning everything but Zoos, maybe the name is really a metaphor for life.
The Blog talks about different locations, her dogs, her art…and Amanda’s art concentrates primarily ( from what I can see ) upon the character of various wildlife, and by all accounts is actually pretty good.
She is now the owner of Zoo Crew Pet Care pet-sitting service in Forest, Virginia and a partner in The ARTiculates Studio in Lynchburg, where she sells her paintings, photography, and hand-made jewelry.
Generally speaking I think anyone with a talent to showcase should avoid Blogger.com and Wordpress.com blogs, as they typically are more suited to people who just want to blog their thoughts.
My own personal advice would be to purchase a domain and hosting, and create a site focused primarily on the art…then set up accounts at RedBubble and devianART to promote the artwork.
Unless, of course, the art is merely a hobby without serious commercial interests…but, as I see it, the art is good enough to be commercialized and should be.
Overall I very much liked the site and think it was well worth the visit and the review.

Thanks for the advice and review. I’ll look into it. The art is not a hobby, I am going to grad school right now for interdisciplinary art degree in visual arts and creative writing at Goddard. So, I appreciate the ideas for marketing the artwork. I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again. You rock Tazz!

Then you should definitely be looking into accounts at RedBubble and devianART…I recommend them because:
1. you retain all rights to your work
2. you do not give them exclusive rights, so you can sell your work on your own sites as well
the only thing you give them is non-exclusive rights to promote and sell your work for a small commission.
They actually help you to promote and sell your work to an extent, as they receive no commission if you don’t sell anything.
I’ve read over their privacy policy and terms of service. I would never send you someplace that I haven’t checked out personally.
But I always advise that everyone read a site’s privacy policy and terms of service anyways in case they’ve made changes.

Thanks again for the advice. You really are something. Fabulous free tips. Now, I just need to find out how to link to you. I’m game if you are, even though I’m not into games.
